"Crafts are just as a fine art as painting or regular sculpture."
"The more technology progresses, the more the personal touch is needed."
Words as relevant today as they were 40 years ago. Hear Milan expand upon these topics and see him carving and teaching in the only known recording of the artist. As a valued subscriber to the Emil Milan Research Project newsletter, you would have early, exclusive access to this rare video of the artist. It's an extraordinary treasure and we want you to be one of the first to experience it.

The video is of Milan conducting a class at Peters Valley School of Craft in the 1970s. It was discovered by Joni Oye-Benintende, the widow of one of the original film makers. Joni shared the video with Peters Valley who subsequently passed it on to the Emil Milan Research Team. We are so thankful to Joni for realizing the value of this lost piece of history and sharing it with the community.
First ever publication about Emil Milan
The forthcoming publication Emil Milan: Midcentury Master is dedicated to the life and work of the late American artist, Emil Milan. Milan contributed to the rise of the studio craft movement in America following WWII but was largely forgotten after his death. Now you can help place Milan in his rightful place in American art and design history by owning this beautiful publication.
The publication is in production now and close to completion. We will begin taking pre-orders on Kickstarter on October 17, 2017, with final delivery in Spring 2018. Sign up for the newsletter to get the most up to date information.
